ABOUT
In 2010 the US surged 30,000 troops, the ADF surged a sub-unit from SASR. Locally purchased bat nine, used by the author at his beloved Applecross Cricket Club in Perth, accompanied them. The bat followed on many missions, inspiring wry smiles from SF helicopter pilots and US soldiers who rumoured it may be used to bring the enemy to account. This bat was a part of history in that this mission was the first time in SASR history that two sub-units were deployed in support of each other. Note the serendipitous designation ‘SF’.
